GOURI – liquid collagen stimulator with polycarprolactone

Today, an ever increasing number of people want to maintain their natural appearance and prevent their skin from ageing. A blemish-free skin is the goal we want most. There have been no suitable products on the market which would only target skin rejuvenation. Hyaluronic acid fillers can compensate for ageing-induced loss of subcutaneous volume, botulinum toxin only acts on the activity of the mimic muscles, etc. GOURI – the first all-liquid collagen stimulator with polycarprolactone (PCL) is one of the few collagen stimulators designed to rejuvenate facial skin.

What is Gouri?

GOURI is made from polycarprolactone, a well-known biopolymer used in medicine for many decades. It is the main ingredient of the Ellanse  stimulating filler, which has skin rejuvenating properties in addition to volume replacement. Due to the shape of its composition in the form of small spheres, Ellanse acts as a filler. In contrast, GOURI is in the form of a solution of a caprolactone molecule and does not act as a filler. After injection, it distributes itself evenly over the entire surface of the facial skin, stimulating the formation of the skin’s own collagen by stimulating the skin cells, the fibroblasts. The newly formed collagen restores the amount of collagen in the skin that has been lost with ageing.

Why is collagen essential for a youthful appearance?

Dermal collagen is an important molecule of the skin’s connective tissue that provides support to the skin and is key to skin rejuvenation. Only a constant and sufficient production of collagen can allow the skin to rejuvenate its appearance, preventing the formation of new wrinkles and deepening existing ones and other signs of ageing. The latter can be achieved using lasers, radiofrequency, ion plasma, deep chemical peels, but these always require a recovery period of several days to weeks, depending on the intensity of the devices or the chemical peel applied to the skin. This is practically non-existent with GOURI.

What are the benefits of GOURI?

The advantages of GOURI – a collagen stimulator over conventional fillers are:

  1. GOURI is a polycaprolactone solution which, when injected, spreads over the entire surface of the facial skin, with no possibility of plugging, excessive build-up at the injection site or blockage of blood vessels (an extremely rare side effect of fillers).
  2. GOURI is a collagen stimulator, the effect of which gives a completely natural appearance. It is suitable for patients who are afraid of fillers altering their appearance. It is injected only in 10 places on the face, from where it then spreads itself evenly.
  3. GOURI is extremely soluble in the skin, so it can also be injected close to the anatomically thin skin of the eyelids, where it rejuvenates the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and so-called tear ducts.

Who is a suitable candidate for GOURI?

GOURI is best suited for people who have initial or moderately pronounced signs of skin ageing, such as fine lines and minor wrinkles around the eyes or on the face. It is particularly suitable for people who want to have or maintain a natural look to their face, as GOURI works on the underlying cause of skin ageing and stimulates the production of new collagen, which makes the skin radiant, smooth, reduces wrinkles and improves tone. GOURI also works for people with advanced signs of facial skin ageing, but they require more repetitions of the procedure and other forms of skin rejuvenation.

Who is advised against the procedure?

The contraindications for GOURI are mostly similar to those for injectable procedures in aesthetic dermatology:

  • taking medications and nutritional supplements, diseases of the haematopoietic organs that affect blood clotting,
  • active bacterial, fungal, viral infection in the injection area,
  • active chronic inflammation of the facial skin (exacerbation of rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, etc.),
  • skin cancer in the injection area,
  • general ill health,
  • metabolic disorders (diabetes mellitus, thyroid disease),
  • taking anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids, anticancer drugs,
  • unrealistic expectations of the effect,
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding.

How is GOURI therapy carried out?

GOURI therapy can be carried out all year round. The number of repetitions depends on the initial skin condition. In most cases, 1-2 treatments per year are sufficient when the initial signs of ageing of the facial skin appear. In case of advanced skin ageing, it is necessary to perform 3-4 repetitions per month in the beginning and then a renewal after 9-12 months.
